Miss Julie Cooper, a trieeo of 1'eter

whom the great philanthropist's
mantle has fallen, though the pub

charities.
The love of Berlioz's life was an
Irish woman, an actress, homely as
could be, they say, but with such a
power of delineation in Shakes
pearean roles that his heart was
completely taken. They were finally
married.
Mrs. l'aret, tho wife of Bishop
Tarot, of Maryland, is a friend of
tho birds. Sho is trying to form a
society in Baltimore, tho members
of which will bo plodded not to wear
any feathers on their hats except
ostrich feathers.

his work as though ho woro just at
the outset of his career.

been pouring in for tho previous two
weeks. Hundreds of Massachusetts
W. C. T. unions aud scores of labor
unions have memorialized tho legis

so strong a body of supporters. Its
opponents, it is said, will try to
amend tho bill by submitting it for
ratification to tho vote of the women
themselves. But tho supromo court
last year decided t hat uo law can bo
euacted to tako effect except when
ratified at tho polls. A law so liinit
