Carroll Anneals to tho Circuit
J. W. Carroll was sentenced to
pay a line of SldO nml bo imprisoned
at hard labor three months iu tho
District Court today, for assault
with a deadly weapon, to wit, a re
volver, on a native. Carroll, by his
attorney, ). A. Magoon, noted an ap
peal from the judgniunt.
The evidence went to show that
Carroll did tiro a pi.-tol at a native
and the min was confined iu the
hospital. There was disparity,
however, ns to tho cause of tho
shoot iug, the defendant claiming it
was iu self-defense. Ho protected
himsolf from mob violence.
