THE TURKISH NAVY.
How It Will Be Represented At tba
Opening of the Baltic Canal.
Tho troubles of Turkey, in con
nection with the dispatch of a vessel
to KM to t3ko part in tho cere
monies, are affording ntnusiug read
ing. The Turkish Government at
first declined to take part in the
naval celebration an account of the
poor state of its finances. The Em
peror thon wrote an nutoraph lottor
to tho Sultan, asking him to sond a
war chip to Kiel. Tho Sultan miiu
moned the Minister of Marine, Has
san Pasha, and atked him if it was
absolutely impossiblo to comply with
Germany's wishes.
The Miniter carefully stated the
formidable list on paper of tho Tur
kish war ships, and found that be
had only three fr. gates at bin dis
posal which wore suitable, and these
needod roGtliog, which would cost h
great doal of time and money. Sud
denly Hassan P.-uha rctnemborod
that tho Turkish Government had
ordered a large torpedo-boat from
tho Germania shipbuilding yards at
Kiel. This vestol is already built,
but has not yet been paid for on ac
count of lack of funds. Tho brilliant
idea struck Hassan Pasha to sond a
crow to Kiel and hire this boat for
the fow days of tho festivities. Diffi
culties, however, supurvetiud to pro
vent tho execution of this scheme,
aud it was fiually decided to order
tho Turkish cruiser Heyboluuma to
go to Kiel.

the tough mucus aud aids its expect
oration. It also lesions tho severity
aud frequency nf paroxysms of
coughing, aud insures n spoedy re
covery. There is uot tho lsast dan-'
ger in giving tho remedy to children
or babies, as it contains no iu furious
substance. For sale by all dealers.
