A Remarkable Cure for Ithcu
xnsitlHin. Westminster, Cal., March 21,
1894. Some time aco, on awaken
ing one morning, I found that I
had rheumatism in my knee so
badly that as I remarked to
my wife, it would be impossible
for me to attend to business
that day. Remembering that
I had some of Chamberlain's Pain
Balm in my store I sent for a bot
tle, and rubbed the afllicted parts
thoroughly with it, according to
directions, and within an hour I
was completely relieved. One appli
cation had done the business. It
is tho best liniment on the market,
and I sell it under a positive guar
antee. R. T. Harris. For sale by
all dealers. Benson, Smith & Co.,

Tho time made by Burt Lee
in the trial boats last week but
bears out tho old saying that
"trotting horses have no parti
cular lineage," and aro not, so
to speak "born to tho purple."
Burt Lee was picked up for a
carriage horse without refer
ence to his sire or dam ho had
the right appearance and a
smart gait that pleased his
ownor, his possibilties have not
half been shown and there is
no telling what he may develop
into before next season's races.
Ono of tho best of tho olden
time trotters, Dutchman, was
a common cart horse without
anv thoroughbred origin. The
trotter of today is but the result
of the careful selection in mat
ing animals. Rarus, tho prodigy
who first beat 2:14, was sired
by an unknown fish-huckster's
horse, who oven after ho had
gotten tho wonderful cold pull
ed a wood cart. There may bo
other horses in tho islands
which, if properly handled, will
do oven better work than Burt
Lee, their joints may want lub
ricating and if that is tho only
troublo there is nothing bettor
than injections of oil provided
you get tho right kind and
there is only one "right kind"
and that is "Vacuum."
Wo have been handling these
oils for years andean recom
mend thorn as the safest oils
manufactured for use on sugar
mill or other tine mochmery.
Tho famous GOO W is in uso I
on nearly all the plantations i
here and in most of tho electric
light and power works in the
United States. In a letter to
tho manufacturers Thos. A.
"I find that tho oils
You hare famished,
Havo proved very satisfactory."
Tho Vacuum Oil is mado in
several brands of which we
carry GOO W, Vacuoline Engine
and Arctic Engine Oil, this
latter for electric light, cen
trifugal and general high speed
work. It is particularly adap
ted to tho Edison system, be
ing used by tho Edison Com
pany and recommended by

Wo handle tho celebrated
Pennsylvania Lawn Mower
because wo consider them tno
best in u.o. Other styles havo
been put upon tho market
only to bo relegated to the
back yard but you never find
a "Pennsylvania" that is not
fit for use. They aro easy to
run and no troublo to keep
in order. Wo have thorn with
10 to 21 inches blade.
Don't fllo a mower blade;
.TiiHt nut a little oil on it
And sprinkle with emory powder,
Then work tho maohine back
And forward and tho blado is sharp
ened. Wo carry tho largest stock
of Blasting Powder and tho
celebrated Hercules Powder
in this market. Tho latter is
mado especially for us for this
climate. No ono has ever
questioned our assertions re
garding packing. Our stock
comprises all sorts used in
ongino rooms and tho selection
has been carefully mado. Wo
havo a full stock. '
AVe havo lately added to our
goods used in tho out of town
districts a lot of Sherman's
celebrated Mexican Saddle
Trees. They wore made to
ordor for us and will fit both
tho rider and tho horse.
Nothing bettor in this line
has over been offered tho
public and the prices aro as
