1st. BccnU30 I neod a oortain
amount of monoy. and tlio Build
ing Association will furniflh what
1 want, and in nearly all cases
will glvo mo 20 per tout moro
monoy than J can pot eisownora
on tho socurity 1 havo to oflbr.
This will enable mo to build or
buy a homo that I can occupy at
once, and, instead of paying rout,
I can divert tho amount towards
tho ultirauto ownership cf tho
place, frco of mortgage
2d. Bocause, when 1 borrow
from the Building Association, I
borrow my own monoy that ia,
whnt I havo already paid in and
expoct to nay in during tho timo
of tho loan. I thus borrow from
myself and pay intorost to myself,
and am an equal profit-aharor in
tho Association, and in all ita
gains from othor loans us woll as
my own.
3d. Because I cannot get a
homo or pay off n mortgage so
easily or bo choaply ra any othor
way.
4th. Because the monthly in
stalments roquirod to pay off my
loan aro extended over a long series
of months, making the paymonts
as easy as if I were roquirod to
pay rent for tho samo house if I
leased it of tho owner.
6th. Because I havo owned
shares for a numbor of years, and
it is cheaper for me to take out
tho par valuo ($200 por share) in
a loan now and invest the money
for the noxt fow yoars, than to
wait for tho shares to mature, or
bo paid off. thus soonrinc the pro
fit of tho monoy which I now ob
tain by borrowing and investing
the samo.
6th. Because 1 cannot save
monoy and pay off my loan in any
better way than through tho com
pulsory and systematic mothod of
tho purely Mutual or Co-operativo
Loan Association.
7th Because 1 undorstand,when
I use ray shares and beoome a bor
rowing member, 1 stand in tho
position of a momber paid off in
advance of maturity; i. o., tho
ohares I tako to borrow on are
paid off to mo in advance of reach
ing tho $200 par valuo in tho
form of a loan, so-called, and tho
seourity I give is security for tho
payment of tho monthly install
ment, interest, etc., and tho Bocurity
(or home) is not liable for the
jtrincipal or advance unless I fuil
to pay the installments as they
become due. It is thus that
tho" loan " differs from any
othor debt secured by mortgage.
8th. Because, if misfortune
should overtake me during the
coming yenra, so that ray install
ments fall behind, tho Association
can help mo out, as no bank or
private individual could possibly
do.
9th. Because tho induosmonts
to savo and pay off tho loan are so
much greater in tho Loan Asso
ciation than anywhore elso. The
wifo and children, too, aro full of
tbo idea of paying up, so that in
tho end, they may own thoir home,
free of mortgage.
10th. Because my noighbors
and frionds aro getting homos,
and paying for thorn through tho
Building Association. Tho poor
mnn, who maltes little money, and
oven tho rich man, who has plenty,
havo found it to be bothapr;
fitablo and a good s mud policy to
borrow from the Building and
L'nn Association.
11th. Because my Mutml
Building and Loan Association is
not an Investment Company, orga
nized by Capitalists, and sustain
ed by "MemborshipIes," ''With
drawal Fees," "Expense Fund
Receipts," doublebarroled pre
miums, and forfeitures by unfor
tunato rnombars, but is a genuine
Co-operative Mutual Association
in all respoctB an organization
of borrowers, by borrowors, and
for borrowors.
12th. Because theso Associa
tions havo stood tho test of yours,
and havo thus proved all the roa
ssons horo given to be good and
true. Therefore I bavo taken my
stock and my loan with perfeot
confidonoo,in the management and
sucoess of these associations.
Subscriptions for stock and
applications for loans may bo
