President Smith stated that Dr.
Lindloy's territory was the largest
apportioned to any government
physician, though ho received
$125 por month, tho largest salary
paid to any. Ho suggostod tho
salary nnd territory might bo
divided botweon two phys'cians.
Dr. Day thought tho complaints
uroso from tho fnot that Dr. Lind
loy's district was too largo for one
man to uttend to.
After a prolonged discussion in
"whioh tho mattor of physioians,
charges and tioatmont of natives
generally camo up, tho mattor was
laid ovgr to the next meeting.
A discussion arose about the
Govorhmont dispensary. It soems
that some people go thoro for free
medioinos and treatment who are
well able to pay. Patients
and applicants for medicines wore
known to loavo thoir carriages
waiting at tho door while they
went 'insido to obtain the benefits
of government charity. Action
wus deferred.
A communication, was received
from a Chinaman, asking for a
threo years' franchiso for remov
ing earbuco from that part of tho
city known as Chinatown. Horses,
carts, stables, etc., would cost
moro(tlmn a thousand dollars, the
document sot forth, besides whioh
men would have to bo hired to do
the work. Arraugement had boon
made with merohants and resi
dents of tho locality to have the
work done for them.
