Iu referring to tho While Star Line steamer
Oceanic upon her recent return to her home
port of Lhcrpool, after running for fifteen
years across the Paclllc uudcr charter to the
O A O S S Co, the Nautical Slaguzlue makes
the proud, but Justifiable boast, that this ship
in her fifteen jears' service has hardly dam
aged a ton uf cargo, lost a boat or damaged
herself lu auy manner. The Oceanic after
tweutj-Bve years' fAtlantlc and Paclllc ser
vice Is at the yard of her builders, Harland
aud Wolff, receiving new boilers and a gener
al overhauling. Captain Smith, her com
mander for years, can well feel proud of bis
vessel's record, as can hi predecessor, Cap
tain Metcalf, now Lloyd's surveyor at San
Francisco.
