probably, discharge at tht M.u i.ui..
Every one who knows genial .lack Hngluml,
captain of the steamer Mlkabala, Is fully con
duced that he followed out the orders of the
Board of Health at Nawlllwlll last week Jack
understands his business, and what he sa)s
goes with the boys along the front.
Among other conjectures made (when the
fool killer Is absent) In regard to the non-ar-rlvnl
of thcWarrhnoo, the latent one Is that
the cholera hat arrived In Victoria and Vun
cojver, and the big stcamihlp Is hemmed In
by a quarantine.
The steamer Janus Makcc arrived from
Kapaa this morning with one passenger, a
brave young lady who was willing to take
chances on the cholera, tho Kauai mall and
two big dray loads of potted plants for the
Cummins-Falrihlld wedding. The citizens
of that landing deposited the mall on the
wharf aud thin took to tho hills, watching
the Makcc carefully to sec that she left no
Weill on the shores of the healthy Garden
Isle.
The steamer Kllauca Hon arrived In this
morning with SO head of cattle from Low's
ranch, 2218 hags of sugar from Kukalau and
1301 bags of sugar from Honomu. After un
loading her deck load of steers at the cattle
pen, shej steamed over to the Oceanic wharf
whero she Is unloading her sugar under a
strict quarantine. A policeman Is In a boat on
one side of the steamer and one Is placed at
tho gate and no ono Is allowed to go on the
wharf. It Is extremity desirous that
this vessel should lcne this afternoen
aud cvoiy effort possible- is m ado for this
end, as there are ovor .100 contract laborers
over at tho quarantine- station that tho
owners of tho plantations, they aro destined
for, need badly. It is proposed that as
soou ns tho cargo is dhchargud, or, if she
still retains part of her cargo so as to get
away quickly, in which case she will secure
on indemnity bond from the owners of tho
sugar that the steamer will be coaled and
moored to the quarautiuo pier and tho
laborers lie embarked without any commu
nication whatever from this share.
