furnish us with tho number of all
tho unpaintod houses in the in
feotod portions of your district,
as per onclosed list, giving tho
approximuto ostimato of tho length
and breadth of tho houBoaand the
numbor of rooms.

a clay for tho gouorul disinfection
of tho City of Honolulu.

quantity of lime avuilablo at tho
present time, your Committeo aro
unablo to recommend the use of
this articlo as a gonorul agont; but
would udviso its use in ub liberal
a manner as possible around
housos, cesspools, waterbolos,and
so forth, in infectod pro
mises. Tho use of a solution of
sulphuric acid of a fivo per cent
strength or a solution of oorrosivo
sublimate, ono to two thousand,
as a wash for floors, walls and
partitions. Tho solution of sul
phuric acid is particularly recom
mended forbaro floors, walls, par
titions, verandas, window sills,
etc. , and tho solution of corrosivo
sublimate for matting, mattresses,
clothing, oil cloth, carpets and
rugs. Both of those lattor pre
parations can be obtained in
liberal quantitios.und as their use
is not attonded with disagrooablo
consequences, and as skilled
labor is not required tu apply
thorn, your committeo confidently
