is satisfied that if the pineapplo
raisers and fruit men generally
would .combine, thoro is a first
rato opportunity now at hand to
mako a. largo amount of monoy

Mr. Fostor sayB that tho present
demoralized stato of affairs in that
lino is dud to tho fact that thoro
aro half n dozon companies, tho
output of no Binglo ono being
largo onough to insuro profits. It
requires a pack of at least 20,000
cases to carry on an establishment
which would contnin tho proper

His idea is that tho various
growors should combine and eoch
take shares of stock in a largo
company, being credited with an
agreed sum for thoir product when
taken to tho cannery, prices being
regulated by tho grading. Those
prices should bo lixod by tho di
rectors at tho oponing of tho sea
eon, sizo and quality being con
sidered in establishing tho grades.
This would produce uniformity in
the goods shipped which is an ox
tromoly important factor.
In addition to packing pineap
ples, etc., a largo concorn can
handle guava jolly, candied or
glnco fruit, desiccated cocoanut,
all jnoxpojisivo items when utiliz
ed in connection with tho main
plant. Fruit being frosh, cost of
sugar small, tin for cans and
othor raw materials froo of duty,
sea freight low and many oppor
tunitics offering for utilizing
