At yestordny's meeting of the

Dre. Emerson, Wood tuhI Day,
Messis. T. J?. Lansing and David
Knliipin, member; Chns. Wilcox,
eecittary; 0. B. Reynolds, execu
tive officer; Dis. Monsarrat and
Wayson, inspectors; l' S. Dodge,
surveyor; Ropresentntho Winston
and other visitors.
The fepoit of Dr. Monsnrrat

among cattle to bo on Oahu.
Sir. Winston wis asked about
lopoits of diseuso in hogs, also aB
to the hours for slaughtering. Ho
niuweied that thoro was no con
tagious discaso among tho hogs.
The slaughtering at night was duo
to tho conditions of climate and of
tho trade.
Conversation was had on tho
question of hours.
1'iesidont Smith thought it was
unfair to the Board to bo raiuried
to send inspectors at night if tho
slaughtering could bo done as
well by day. Tho Board
insisted on having the moat in
spected immediately on boincr
killed.
Dr. Day asked if thoro had over
been any trichina) or tapeworm
discovered in hogs hero, and Mr.
Reynolds loplied in the negative.
The piesident asked how it
would do to notifv tho butchers
that thoy would have to pay for
inspection of slaughtering done at
night.
Dr. Emerson moved that Dis.
Monsanat and Wayson bo ap
pointed to mako arrangements
with tho butchers for inspection
either day or night. Carried.
Reports of the mitigation act
and tho sales of iish wcie locuhcd.
Mr. Koliipio stated that ho had
to condemn fish nearly every day.
Tho piosidcnt stated that he
had invited Mr. Arthur Johnstono
to bo present, in connection with
appaiatus for microscopical in
vestigations at tho leper experi
mental station.
Dr. Day avid tho appaialus was
of a superior kind. "Mr. John
stono pioduced tho invoico, show
ing the price to bo aiiout ?300 ui.d
chaiges 5575. It was agieed to
accept tho apparatus.
Dr. Day read a letter from Dr.
Herman M. Biggs, bacteriological
director of the Boaid of Health of
Now Yoik, giving an opinion up
on tho slides of cholera goims
from tho Honolulu epidemic. It
was in effect that tho diagnosis of
its having boon Asiatic cliolora to
which tho germs belonged waB
undoubtedly correct.
Printed copies of Mr. Dodgo's
ropoit on tho Sewerage of Hono
lulu woro distributed to tho
momborfa and loportois. A letter
from Col. Waring, tho celebrated
sanitary engineer of Now York,
was also read.
After an informal discussion it
was decided, on motion of Dr.
Emerson, to submittho documents
to tho Minister of tho Interior
with a recommendation of early
action in tho matter.
Several discharges of patients
from tho Insane Asylum woro au
thorized. Superintendent R. "W. Meyer's
weokly ropoit on tho Lopor Set
tlement was read. It" was occu
pied with unimportant details.
A letter was read from Dr.
Mark A. Rodgeis of Tucson, Ari
S50H, asking for information with
a view to settling in Honolulu. It
was addrosi-ed to "Samuel B.
Dole," whom tho writer supposes
to be President of tho Republic.
Tho secretary was instructed to
properly acknowledge lecoipt of
the lottor.
