was finally detected in secroat
communication with tho onemy.
Ho was expelled from tho Geu
oral Court of Massachusetts on
November lth, 1775, and tho Con
tinental Congresses paRsnd tho fol

without tho uso of pen, ink or
paper, and that no person bo
allowed to converse with him ex

from this or a future Congress."

guard of Captain Israel Putnam,
a sergeant and seven mon. You
will pleaso comply in every par
ticular with thoabovo resolution

respect, sir, your most humble

Tho above was addressed to tho
Governor i '. Council of Safety
then (Nov. 22, 1775) sitting at
Lebanon, Connecticut. Thoy voted
and resolved that tho said Dr.

further orders, under tho caro and
