They had found grunt difficulty in doing so, aud tho only wny would bo to directly attack sako. To do this would involve thogovornmontin possible trouble with Japan. They favored tho bill as it was carrying out tho idea embodied in tho prcsont law, which raised tho duty on stronc alcoholic liquors nnd lowered it on weak ones. Tho only troublo ho saw was in the consequent loss of revenue. Howovor, ho should favor the passage of tho bill. Senator Lyman said tho Senate should remombor that tho Liquor Commission had reported threo hills which covered tho ontiro question. This bill should bo considered in connection with tho others.
