Section 1. Every owner of a
cart, dray, wagon, omnibus, stage,
wogonotto or other vohiclo used
for the convoyanco of merchan
dise or passengers upon auy
public road which shall have been
brought into tho Hawaiian Inl
ands or tho conylructK'i i r ,'.n li
shall have boon completed ufjor
tho thirteenth day of Juno, A. D.
1890, Bhall bo Biibjectto an annual
tax of fivo times the amount spec
ified in Act 01 of tho Session
Laws of 1892 for every such vohi
clo owned by him, tho uxlea of
which aro one and ono-half inches
or moro in diatnotor: Provided,
howovor, that tho owner of overy
such vehicle which shall have
whool tires and axles proportioned
as stated below, shall bo liable
only for tho annual tax specified
in Act 01 of thn Sppsiou Laws of

In case of four wheeled vohiolos,
tho length or tho forward axlo
shall bo so much less than tho
length of tho hind wlo that when
tho vohiclo is moving straight
ahead, tho tracks of tho front
.wheels shall bo inside of tho
tracks of tho hind wheels.
Section 2. From and nftor tho
first day of July, A. D. 1900,evory
ownor of a cart, dray, wagon,
omnibuB, stngo, wagouotto or
other vehicle used for carrying
merchandise or passengers upon
any public road, oven though
brought into tho Hawaiian Isl
ands or constructed previous to
tho thirteenth day of Juno, A. D.
1890, shall bo subject to tho samo
annual tax under tho Bamo con
ditions ua specified in Section 1
for tho ownors of such vehicles
imported and constructed after
the thirteenth day of Juno, A. D.
Section 3. This Act shall take
effect upon publication.
