Fitzgerald's connection with tho
robbery. About 11 o'clock tin's
morning Captain Robert Parker
went out to Fitzgerald's housoto
moke a further search for tho mis
sing monoy. Ho opened the stovo
and found some portions of ton
cent tramway envelopes partly
burned. In raking ovor tho ashes
lie found about 75 couts in nickels
and a partly molted mass of mo
ney. Ho did not Bamplo tho ash
es any further, but had tho stovo
sent down to tho station house,
whore it was turned ovor to De
tcctivo Kaapa. It should havo
boon stated above that when
Kaapa found the sack with
tho empty paper ottvolopes
on tho day of tho robbory ho
found footprints at tho place.
These ho carefully measured and
they wero identical with Fitz
gerald's. After Captuin Parkor's discoy
ory of tho money in tho stovo this
morning, Jnmes Bennett, other
wise known as Boatswain Bon,
waB arrested and is hold subject
to investigation. Ho lived in tho
samo house with Fitzgerald and is
supposed to know all about tho
robbory, if ho did not havo a
haud in it.
