flowers and velvet. Tho sailor hat is

and low crown. Tho sailor hat proper
receives no other trimming than a col

quills aro added.

of collars, cults and fichus bestow n
coqucttiFh charm to even a gown of
simplo cotton nnd may bo considered
as nothing if not womanly. A very
useful idea is shown in a wido turn over
collar and broad bos plait of lino grass
lawn, trimmed v. ith tiny flounces of
whito Valenciennes. This collar and
box plait aio t-o arranged that they can
bo worn over a plain dress or bloucc,
nnd form a nutty littlo addition.
Just a word upon tho moro useful if
lcssoruament.il typo of collar and cuffs.
Thcso have niai.y variations, and aro
neat and over becoming for tho athlctio
excroiscs which play feo important a part
in tho feminiiM) lifo today. Tho high
turn over golfing collar ia turned out
itfeit'Jy ncv, embellished with narrow
Raited frills of pink or bluo ciTUbrio
nnd cuffs to match, or they aro Fiuart
in Et iff cued cambrics, in birdscyo spot
or horschoo design, In contrasting col
ors bordered with narrowest frills of
Valenciennes. Another design, girlish
nud smart, is n turn over collar and
cuffa in whito pique, with n stitched
hem nnd two tiniest tucks ubovo it.
No wardrobo is complete without ono
simplo but well miulo coat and skirt
gown, for this affords n correct eostunio
for out of door lifo in summer. For in
doors, thin driwcs. of organdie, lawn,
batiste, and all kinds of gauzy materi
als, both cheap and expensive, aro ex
tremely popular; fo thero is unlimited
choico an to afternoon and evening
gowns, fiinre tho advent of tho mouth
of rosrs weddings havo again como to
tho front of tho social stago and much
interest has been centered in tho details
of bridal gowns. Ivory colored satin is
n favorite matriial this season and is
frequently used in association with
ivory brocade. Orango flowers, tullo
veils and shower bouquets aro never fail
Very dainty aro tho now chino silks,
mostly with whito ground?, and tho
manufacturers liavo happily lntraght
theso down to a fair price, presumably
in viow of their popularity as linings to
muslin, to lisso, to chiffon and to crcpo
do chino. For this is our latest extrava
gance to uo chino silk as tho foun
dation fcr tho transparency of eoiuo
diapiianous fabric. Very pretty indeed
looks a dress mado on theso principles,
with pink and green flowers disporting
themselves on a whito surfaco gleaming
softly through whito crcpo do chino
striped with cream colored lace. Of
such, however, is not tho order of econ
omy, but altogether economy ia not very
possiblo this season. Tiio embroideries
aro so elaborato and so iudiRpciisablo
that their possession prohibits any such
pofcsibility. Tho appliquo of cream col
ored laco of the braid description on tho
whito lisso is almost as much in favor
this year as it was last, though tho

fashion has been somowhat altered by
tho introduction of jet or colored beads
or twinkling sequins. ,
A charming evening dress Is in mnizo
colored flowered chino silk. Tho bodico
of muizo rolored satin is covered with
Irish laco and tnmmed with cascades of
blaclc kilted chiffon.
