President Smith then brought
up tho matter of a now cemetery
by stating that a survoy of a now
site, containing 48 acres, had just
boon completed. This tract was
situated just this side of Mauualua
and in tho opinion of tho speakor
was tho most eligible and desirable
to bo obtained within a reasonable
distance of the city.
Dr. Day thought that the pro
posed location was too closo to
tho city in viow of its presont ra
nid flpvplnnmont in that direction.
Tho Board instructed its secretary
to iuform the Minister of the In
terior that if a cemetery could bo
established within tho limits of
Honolulu distiiet, tho Board of
Health was aware of no belter
placo than the Maunalua site.
Also, that somo of tho members
had coubideied a placo outside tho
district of Honolulu better for tho
