For more than fifty years
has PERRY DAVES' PAIN
KILLER stood the test
against all remedies prepared
to eradicate pain, and today
stands .at the head of the list
among the medicines that are
so essential to keep at hand in
the home.
It is not a new fangle remedy
nor do the proprietors lay
claim to any wonderful revela
tion of the ingredients that en
ter into the manufacture of
this over popular remedy.
It is perfectly harmless, you
need hnvo no fear of becoming
habitually inclined to its use.
For Colic, Cramps, Dysen
tery, Colds, and all painful
affections, a few doses will cer
tainly give relief. .You cannot
afford to bo without a bottle
in the house.
Your forefathers used it
and found it beneficial.
Why experiment with some
remedy that is new and its effect
on the system unknown?
It has many rivals but no
equal.
19 The new 35c. size con

Fake
A large speculator of Bt. Louis,
who often overdrew his account at
one friendly bank, wanted $10,000
for a certain deal, his balance in
bank at the time being $100. The
obliging oashiei suggested that he
draw on some distant party.
"Any one," said he, "as long as
the party is far away from St.
Louis." , Smith drew at Bight for
$10,000 on the Sultan of Turkey.
The draft was duly forwarded by
the bank, reaching New York,
whence it was sent to a Loudon cor
respondent. It then cntno into the
hands of tlio RothRchilds,who for
wardod it to their Constantinople
brauch, where it was duly present
ed for paymout to tho Sultan's
chamberlain, tho latter bringing
it to his highness.
"Who is this 'John Smith ? ' "
said tho Sultan. "Don't know,"
replied tho chamberlain. "Do wo
owe him anything ? " "No," re
plied the other. "Then I'll not
pay it," replied his high mighti
ness. "One moment, if I might
advise," said the astute counselor;
"this draft cornea through tho
Rothschilds, with whom we are
seeking a two-million loan. Would
it be safe, under the circumstances,
to dishonor it?" "Pav it." said
the Sultan, and it was paid. One
oan imagine the astonishment of
John Smith and the quick-witted
cashier when thoy learned that the
draft had beon honored by the
porson on whom it was drawn.
Traveler.
I.nck Im n Manic,
It is lucky to be named Hugh
Williams. In tho year 1GG4, on
the 5th of December, tho Menai,
an English ship, capsized at sea.
Of tho eighty-ono passengers on
board only one, Hugh Williams,
was saved. Again, on tho 5th of
December, 1785, a pleasure
schooner was wrecked on the Isle
of Man. Sixty persons were on
board, inoluding a Hugh Wil
liams and family. Only the one
named survived the wreck. On
August 5, 1820, a pionio party of
twenty. five was run down on the
River Thames. Hugh Williams,
a little chap of 5 years, from
Liverpool, was the only one
saved. Tho most singular story
of all remains. In the year 1889,
on the 9th of August, a 'Leeds
coal barge with nine men aboard
foundered. All but two were
drowned, and these fellows were
both named Hugh Williams, an
nnole and nephew.
