NIKOLA TESLA'S LATEST

Now York, N. Y., Juno 5. At
last Nikola Tosla has reached n
point in his investigation of tho
possibility of telegraphing with
out wires to mako a positivo an
nouncement of his achiovements.
Ho has worked at tho problem
long and anxiously. But his
talk has always bcon guarded and
indefinite. Now tho definite an
nouncement of his success is made.
Tesla declares that ho hua provid
ed electrical tlevicoo with which
ho can actually send and receivo
messagos by a system which can
bo so applied as to mnko it possi
ble for an operntor in Ijew York
to coramunioato with case aud
certainty with peoplo on any part
of the em tli.
"The miichineB which I havo
completed," Tesla said yesterday,
"will carry messages through the
earth twenty miles. I have sent
and received signals with them. I
shall immediately make machines
which I expoct will enablo me to
telegraph to any part of tho earth
as readily i"
Tesla is not roady to explain in
detail tho devices used, but Baid
the results wore obtained by tho
use of his electrical oscillator, ro
cently patented. He had observed
electrical impulses carried long
distances without the intervention
of wires. His discovory was based
upon this principle. Ho said his
machines will probably be used
"I will havo a machine at eaoh
commercial or political center, and
send out from each placo under
international agreemont all poli
tical, financial or other news to be
read at every other part of the
world at the same moment. The
news could be distributed then
over wire lines or otherwise. Fi
nancial panics and even wars
might bo done away with if this
Tesla said transmission eignnla
wero not the only result whioh
may be achieved by his new
scheme. "From the results of my
experiments," he said, "I hope to
be able to secure tuo transmission
of power from placo to place."
