How to Make a Pecan Cake.

a rccipo for making pecan enko. Bent
together a cup of butter and 3 of sugar,
adding a littlo beaten whito of egg, then
put in a cup of flour, a half cup of sweet
milk, then another cup of flour. The last
flour must contain 2 tcaspoonfuls of
baking powder. Add tho whites of 6
eggs, allowing for that which has been
taken from them to mix with tho butter
and sugar. The filling and icing is mado
as follows: Two cups of nuts should
toak awhilo in a grated pineapple, after
chopping them fine. Now mix them into
tho whites (beaten stiff) of 6 egg aud
powdered sugar. Put wholo pecan kcj
nols over tho top of tho cako whilo the
king is still soft
How to Keep Milk.
It has been declared upon good author
ity that milk can be kept for a week by
canning it us ono would fruit Fill glass
jars and screw down tho lids, then placo
them in u steamer over cold water. Heat
tho water gradually and steam tho jars
for an hour, then tighten the tops. Tho
woman who has preserved milk in this
way says she can seo no reason why it
should not keep much longer.
