batten berg laco stretched over bluo vel
vot with a cardboard foundation. Tho
photo is inserted between tho velvet and
tho cardboard and shows in the circu
lar center. A pretty way of making a
photo holder iu this mannor of an imi
tation loco doily is to gild tho entire
laco, afterward stretching it over tho
velvet. Tho gildiug can bu dono with
ordiuary liquid gold. Care should bo
takou to have the laco pinned out per
fectly flat whilo gildiug it und leaving
it flat until thoroughly dry. Almost
any design for a doily can bo used for
this holder, provided it is not too large,
and when a deliiato shade of velvet or
satin is used to covtr thu cardboard
foundation tho effect is particularly
