that Senator Davis, chairman of
the Committee on Foreign Rela
tions, yesterday received a written
request from the ex-Queen for a
hearing during the consideration
of the Hawaiian treaty. The Sen
ator denied tho request, suggest
ing that tho first step in tho uiroo
tion of a recognition of her claims
should come from the executive
It is believed that she intends
leaving the city to return when
tho treaty is considered next
winter.
