This coat was afterwards placed
for Bafo keoping in a cavo on tho
island of Hawoii. Iloro it remain
ed tnnny years, being so spcuroly
bidden as to render ull efforts of
curiosity hunterB unavailing.
Hero it perhaps would havo re
mained forovor had not tho Eu
ropean Curiosity Co. been fortu
onto enough to secure tho services,
in 181)2, of Nick Brehnm to find
this old coat. Combined with a
natural aptitude for this kiud of
woik, Mr lirolinm also had nntir
ing energy and indomitablo per
severance. Aftpr many failures ho
succoodod in locating and obtaining
this coat in tbo fall of 1898, after
six years of untiring work.
"Nick," as ho is familiarly known
to everyone in Honolulu, was tho
