Stockor has received nows to the
effect that the naval militia of
California and Now York aro stato
organizations and of courso, under
the laws of those states. Any or
ganizationof the kind formed horo
would have to bo under tho Re
public of Hawaii just as tho mili
tary companies now in existence
Congress has Bet aside an ap
propriation for the naval reservo
and, whilo Now York, Cali
fornia and other states with naval
militia will profit by this, it is very
doubtful about Hawaii's eligibili
ty, for Hawaii has not received
her status from tho United States
to whether sho will bo a torritory
or a colony.
This is tho hitch that the men
interested in tho movement of get
ting a iiaval militia for Honolulu
areworrying about now and furth
er information is boing sought
aftor. It may bo that thoro will
be no naval resorvo horo until
after Hawaii has received her sta

Tho missionary was introduced
by Rev. H. H. Parker. On Fri
day afternoon, Mrs. Kekola will
address the woman's meeting.
