This Amorican order was and is
idontical, in principles and pur
poses, with tbo Mancucslor Unity
of England upon which it was
modeled. Tho Bnltimoro idea is
today not far short of having a
million members, nnd last year
exorcised benevolence to tho tuno
of more than throe and aquartor
Tho order was instituted at Ho
nolulu fifty threo years ago, when
Excelsior lodge waB organized.
This is tho oldest lodge west of
the Rocky Mountains and owns
vnhmblo property. Harmony
lodgo and two lodges of ltebekau,
tho latter boing for ladies, now
keop tho pioneer lodgo company
in Honolulu. 'Thoro is also an
oncamptnent, having highor do
grees, m this city.
