Thoro was a very Bad accident

It was about 4:30 o'clock when

was on the central ptrt of the
scaffold watching fnr some stono

that the wiro of tbo hoisting appa
ratus must have struck tho board
that Carvalho was standing on
and, rinding that this board wns
about to be dislodged, stepped
back to find other nupport. At
all events he missed his foofing
and fell backward. His hoad
struck a stono beneath and was
litornlly mashed to piicos. Tbo
body must bavo glanced off and
the head fallou between two
stones, for tho weight of tho body
falling over had broken tho neck.
Deputy Marshal Ohillingworth
called a Coroner's Jury and had
the members viow the biily. Too
jury was to have oomo togotber

jurors has other work so that tbo
