tion has rooruited nearly 2000
mon a week right along since Con
cress adjourned on March 4th.
They do not know that with these
recruits and with tho ro-onlist-ments
a force of 40,000 mon has
been raised within that time.

army bill which passed on March
2d practically compelled the ro
organization of a now army nearly
a fourth as largo as tbat which
was raised for the Spanish war.
They do not know that uudor tho
law authorizing tho creation of tho
army for tho Spanish war all of
tho regulars above 27,000, as well
as all of tho volunteer bad to bo
mustered out at tho ratification of
the poaoe treaty and tbat while
tho new army bill provides for a
