HAWAII IN SEATTLE'S BIG PARADE.
Hawaii was set very prominently and appropriately before the people of Seattle
during the last Fourth of Julv celebration. The float attracting the most attention In
the big street parade was that of the Seattle Brewing and Malting Company, entitled
"Our New Possession Hawaii."
It was a monster float .drawn by eight large gray horses that the Company had
recently Imported from the east. The horses and float were profusely decorated with
tropical plants, palm fronds and tropical fruits, all of which made a magnificent set
ting for the great throne on which was seated the queen of the parade, an Hawaiian
glrlnamed Nellie Kaaoli, who had come up from San Francisco to appear In the
The float was the feature of the parade, and was also a very courteous recognition
by the Seattle Brewing and Malting Company of the large patronage they have In
Hawaii. If all the large houses having business dealings with merchants in Hawaii
should give equal prominence to the Islands, there would be less local money needed
for outside advertising.
