slight reduction, being 10,852,738 taels,

bystanders to help him. Ono fellow did
grab tho. hack driver. As soon ns this
was done tho jockey picked up a pepper
bottlo and throw It directly nt tho hack
driver's head. Had tho latter not
dodged ho might havo got n bad cut.

O'Brien, tho man who was discharg
ed from the nollco forco a fow days ago,
got on a spreo Monday night
and Insulted n stranger in
an uptoWn saloon. Tho stranger
laid O'Drlen on tho floor. Tho
latter then went out nnd soon returned
with a gun and his badge, which ho had
not yet turned In. Upon approaching
the stranger ho was again knocked
down. Captain Parker then arrested
tho fellow. This morning O'Drlen was
released on putting up ball.
