Snnitary Cominlttoc. Sir: Your
valuablo communication of February
22d, citing reasons why In tho opinion
of the Citizens Sanitary Committee
the Hotel stables should bo burned
forthwith, has been recched. In reply,
allow mo to express tho Hoard's grati
fication upon the nssurnnco that "tho
Citizens' Sanitary Committee does not
nssume to dictate to tho iinnril nt
Health ns to What Its rnnrnn nt nnllr.n

The argument 01 the Citizens' Saril
tary Committeo appears to bo that In
previous cases tho Hoard has condemn

tho suspected localltv. nml tlmt thla
course has prevailed repeatedly nnd

this policy should be allowed. Fur
ther, it Is nrgued, that In the case of
the Hotel stables the evidence of in
fection Is moro conclusho than In
many previous cases, some of which
aro cited as examples.
In reply, nllow mo to state tlmt the
Hoard has In no lnstanco ordered tho
destruction of property without first
making a careful Btircy of tho premi
ses and weighing all tho evidence
which could bo obtained ns to Infec

Tho Board has traced tolllock 10, di
