Wood iu his efforts to learn tho oxncl

Death certificates of the most un
satisfactory nature have been round.
In cases where, patients bavo died un
attended It Is customary to hold a post
mortem. In ninny cases of this kind
simply outward examinations were
made. In ono cases the attending phy
sician stated that death was caused
by stomach troubles; this wnu unsatis
factory and ho was nrked to mako It
moro definite, ho then slated that the
caueo.of doath was apoplexy. Seeing
no connection between stmplo stomach
troublo and apoplexy a post mortem
was held and tho real cause of death
was found to bo typhoM malarial fe
ver. ThlH, Dr. Wood stated, was danger
ous to the community In which the
deaths occurred. It was argued by the
Board that nil cases where a physician
had not been in attendance that the
Board should sco that a thorough punt
mortem tnko place under th) super
vision of tho Board.

Health at yesterday's meeting to nek
the Council of State for appropriations
and to place beforo that body plans and
specifications for a city trorguo. Dr.
Emerson, who has douo considerable

certain Instances operntiors had to bo
done under very Inconvenient clrcum
stanccs, dangerous to the health of tho
general public, all for tho want of a
suitable niorguo. This matter will bo
presented to tho Council of Stato at
tho earliest tlmo possible.
