Peacock & Co., Ltd., have the honor of being tho promoters and owners of the first brick building on tho Island of Hawaii, Hllo tho distinction of tho locality, und Contractor A. And no complaints aro heard from anyono for the part taken In It, for tho building Is a credit to Hllo as It would be to rt city many time Its size. Tho structure has a frontago of GS feet on Walanucnuo street, end 150 feet on Bridge, and is of two stories. There are three stores on Bridgo street, each 21.Gx40.6; on the corner Is a room 67x30 which has been handsomely fit ted up by tho First Bank of Hllo, Ltd.. for Its uso, and on Walanuenuo street is a storo 22x57. Under tach storo lo a beparate cellar with high ceiling and each storo is provided with private lavatory. Tho second floor is reached by a broad salrway from the tiled en trnnco on Walanuenuo street. On this floor there are eighteen of fices. Tho design of tho building lo such that each store and office receives an abundance- of light during the day. The rooms and halls aro equipped with electric light fixtures of beautiful de sign. Tho lavatories nro perfect In every way and fitted with modern sani tary appliances in tho plumbing. Hard wood finish gives tho Interior of tho building an appearand of solidity which Is not deceiving. Tho prleca fixed for rental of tho different rooms and stores Is placed so low that It Is not surprising that so many applica tions havo been mado for them.
