DOAUD OP HEALTH.
At a meeting of tho Board of Hcal'h
held tho lSth day of April, 1900, the
following amendments aul additions
wero made to the Sanitary Regulation?
of tho Board of Health adopted Janu
ary 2G, 1900, viz.:
Section C was amended by adding
the words "floor or floors ot tho ground
under tho" thereto, so thit said section
shall read as follows:
"Section C All houses, structures,
rooms or parts thereof, In which wator
Is used or Intended to bo usoJ, .n such
quantity as to render tho floo. or floors
or tho ground under tho floor or Acis
thereof damp, shall hnvo au;h floor or
floors mado absolutely water-proof,
with proper drainage into trapped
leaders conveying tho water away In

In a manner satisfactory to tho Board
of Health."
Section 8 was amended by adding
tho words "unless tho sides and bot
tom nro cemented and mado water
tight," so that said section shall read
as follows:
"Section 8 No privy vault, sink or
cesspool In Honolulu shall hereafter bo
located or constructed within fifty foot
ot any stream, take, pond, well or
spring of water, unless tho sides nnd
bottom aro cemented nnd mado water
tight, nor within two feet of tho lino
of nny lot; nor shaii It be mado more
than eighteen or less than six feet deep
or placed In such n position that It if,
not easily accessible for emptying and
clennlng."
Section 19 was amended by adding
tho words "sinks nnd bath tubs" after
"urinals" and the following sentenco
to said section: "Waste water from
sinks, bath tubs, places whoro wash
ing Is done or water closets shall not
be allowed to discharge Into any
sttcnm, lake, pond or ditch," so that
said section shall read:
"Section 19 All connections to cess
pools or privy vaults shall bo mado
with cast Iron, lead or vitrified sower
pipe. All urnlals, sinks nnd bath tubs
shall bo connected to cesspools, vaults
or sewer by trapped waste pipes. Wasto
water from sinks, bath tubs, places
whero washing Is dono or water closets
shall not bo allowed to dlscnargo Into
any stream, lake, pond or ditch."
And tho following regulation regard
ing tho manufacturo of pol In tho city
of Honolulu be added and mado sec
tion 30 of the Sanitary Regulations ot
the Board, viz.:
"Section 30 Each and tcry build
ing where pol is manufactured by man
ual labor shall be laid with cement
floors, with gutters leading Into a
trap drain connected with a cesspool nr
the sower system when completed."
