Llndley. His dispatch is as follows.
"Pretoria Station, Juno 5, 12:55 p. m.
I regret to report that the Thirteenth
Imperial Yeomanry had to surrender
to a very superior force of tho enemy
on May 31st, near Llndley. On receiv

with all speed to its assistance.
"Methuen was then on the march on
the Hcllbron sldo of Kroonstadt and,
half an hour after the receipt of my
telegram, on June 1st, ho started off.
By 10 a. m. of tho following day ho had
matched forty-four miles In twenty
five hours, but ho was too late to rescue
Colonel Spraggo's Yeomanry. Methuen

2,000 and 3,000 strong, and nftcr a
running fight of five hours completely
routed the enemy
"It Is a very legrcttahlo circum

long before the Irish Yeomanry nrc re
leased from captivity."
