At n meeting of tho Board of Health
yesterday afternoon, the last under tho
old regime, Dr. Wood Introduced the
first business by stating that Dr. Cnr
mlchael nppenrcil to establish the sta
tus of the Federal olllcers under the
change of government. Dr. Wood fur
ther stntcd that ho had handed In ills
resignation as president of the Hoard
of Health, to take effect Juno 1 1.
Tho mcmbois of the Board next fell
Into a discussion about the matter of
property to bo turned over to the Unit
ed States Government, tho Federal au
thorities having authority to receive all
such. It was brought out In this dls
russlon that the quarantine wharf had
always been under tho Interior lie
partment nnd not tho Board of Health.
Dr. Carmlchnel stated that It was the
custom In tho United States that tho
expenses of fumigation bo borne by the
Federal Government. Ho stntcd fur
ther that ho had sent a despatch to
Washington asking that all cargoes be
disinfected. It was then voted that all
tho nppllonces belonging to the govern
ment and all tho fumigating apparatus
in cimrgo or tno Uoard of Health, be
hnnded over to tho Federal authorities.
Dr. Wood announced that Dr. Noblltt
hod asked that the consideration of bU
application for a license, to practice
go over until inter. This was granted.
The matter of the Insanitary condi
tion of the property of tho Bishop Es
tate and John Ena nt Walklkl was ic

assistant. Upon being asked a direct

upon authorized President Wood and
Dr. Pratt to appoint nn assistant lor
tho latter at a slary of $125 n mouth.
Tho claim of Dr. Hodglns against tho
Board of Health was ordered paid ut
the compromise flguro of I35.
