of Honolulu has Instituted a suit In tlio
Circuit Court of the Second 'Circuit
agulnft S. Ahml, the Chinese poten
tate of the Kula district. The suit Is
an action to recover money on u note
originally amounting to something
over $H00 to" H. C. 'Vlda for a very
valuable consideration, and the note
wbb endorsed by Mr. Vlda to Mr. Lu
cas, Mr. Ahml on careful exnmlnaflon
after signing the note, 'discovered that
the valuable consideration for which
be Issued the note, was not so valu
able after all, and ho now wishes to re
turn the same to the original iiwiiera
who are loath to take the samo back
under any consideration and would not
be satisfied with anything less than
solid gold coin of the realm. Mr, Ahml,
however, complains that the valuable,
consideration aforementioned haa been
very detrimental to him us weUJft,ttmt
of his numerous friends whom ho ex
pected would share with him In u
financial way.

One of the band boys left his horse
