A REGIMENTAL PARADE
The first regimental parade of the
National Guard of Hawaii since Oc-iv
ber, 1S09, took place last night. Lieut.
Col. C. J. McCnrthy was In command.
Major C. W. Zlegler led the first bat
talion, and Major J. M. Camarn the
second. With one exception the com
panies each mustered about 32 men in
the ranks. Forming nt the Drill Shed
the regiment marched out to the Ma
ktkl recreation grounds, headed by the
band. After parade rest, during which
the band regaled the multitude with
ragtime tunes, a few simple evolutions
were performed before marching back
to headquarters. A good many people
assembled at the grounds on foot a'ul
In carriages. Residents along the line
of march must have enjoyed the suc
cession of nntlonnl ntrs played 3
marches by the band. Captain Uerger
gave the musicians but few rests. The
marching of the troops was excellent.
SHIPPING NOTES.
The Mlkahala will not sail again until
next week.
The Walaleale and James Makee will be
In fiom Kauai tomorrow.
The Ceylon Is coming Into port from
Laysan Island as the Bulletin goes to press.
The Fanny Adele was unable to get
away yesterday. She will sail for Eleele
this afternoon.
The Helene Is on the boards to sail for
Klnel, Paauhau, Kukalau, Ookala, Lau
pahoehoe and Papaaloa Monday at 5 p. m.
The Mlkahala came In from Kau yester
day afternoon with 5800 bags of sugar for
C. Brewer & Co. Purser Christian re
ports as follows: 9000 bags of sugar left
at H. S. Co., 2000 at P. S. M., 47c8 at H.
A. Co. and 3300 at A. H. Co. Total of
19,008 bags. Fine weather at Hamakua
but no rain. Fine w eather In Kau coast.

at 7:30 In the hall of the Knights of

street. Moreover, to accommodate a
number of new members, a new begin
ner's class had to be started, which Is
held every Tuesday evening at the res.

The valuable library of the Branch,

Material references, Is also kept open
to the public on Mondays, Wednesd-os
and Fridays, from 3 to 4:30 p. m. also
on Saturday evenings, and readers
freely avail themselves of the privilege
of taking books out. Furthermore,
the value of the library is going to he
more than doubled by tliti acquisition
of a large number of recent publica
tions, purchased through the generous
gift by Mrs. M. D. Hendricks, of a sum
of 100 ,to which must be added kind
donations of forty-seven volumes by
G. W. Smith, of ten more by Miss Rice
and of sundry others; hut, as it Is de
sirable to make the library as complete
as possible to help the ever increasing
