ings, lighting nnd supplies and the ele
vated railroad officials of Brooklyn are
working on plans for doing away
with the danger to life In the "third
rail" system In use un the elevated rati
roads. The recent fatal accidents nt
trilmtable to the third rail have Im
pelled the commissioner to tnkc steps
to compel the company to make n sys
tem less danRcrous to life. One plan
that has been proposed Is to place the
rail In the middle of the track Instead
of on one side, nnd protect It with up
right boards projecting a few Inches
