From Kauai, per stmr Kauai, Nov. 14
Franc s Gay, Capt. Campbell.
IILEU HAS "COLD FBBT."
Owing to the Btorm last night the
steamer Doric did not venture out until
7 o'clock this morning. Even then the
xea over the liar was running moun
tains high and the pilot boat that wnn
trailing was compelled to cast off or bf
smashed to pieces. There were four
boys In the boat and they had a peril
ous time getting ashore. While coming
over the crest ot u great sea David Pa
hua, who was steering was thrown In
to the air and struck on his liejd at the
other end of the boat, making an ugl
gash in his forehead. Shortly after this
a heavy sea struck tho boat splitting
her sldo and filling her with water, "it
was n marvel that tho boys reached
shore alive.
Seeing that the Doric was laying off
and on outside, nnd that the boat had
returned without the pilot, Capt. Hll
bus started out with tho tug Kleu but
encountered such heavy seas on tho
bar that he waB comptllcd to turn bacit
or lose his house. He then requested
Capt. Q. II, Hrokaw of tho tug Fear
less to make tho trial. Trhe to her
name tho pretty tiiB breasted tho ter
rible seas on tho bar and virtually
Tho Doric was1 lying about u mllo off
plowed through It. The tug wus most
skillfully handled by her able captulr..
the bar and by 9 o'clock tho Fearlms
had tho pilot nshore.
Adulterated Milk.
Louis Ake, u native driver of one of
tho milk wagons of tho Euterprlsa
Dairy of which Nobrlgga Is tho man-
uger and principal owner, was arrested
jestcrday afternoon on th echargo of
selling adulterated milk. Ills caso was
called In tho Pollco Court this morn
ing and partly tried. Some of'tlio wit
nesses were not present and pollco olll
cers were sent out after them and, as
the Deputy Sheriff was busy with the
cases of the Portuguese who died on
Punchbowl slope under suspicious cir
cumstances yesterday afternoon, last
eenlng and this morning, tho case was
continued until tomorrow. Tho de
fense Is being represented by Attorney
De Bolt. Prof. Shorcy was tho prin
cipal witness for th cprosecutlon. Three
specimens of the milk sold to the Now
England Bakery were brought into
court as testimony for the prosecution.
Nobrlgga himself was an Interested
spectator.
