John Fritz was arrested Monday
on' tho charge of vagrancy. Ho ap
peared In the pollco court this fore
noon and pleaded not guilty to tho
charge, saying ho had como hero In
tho Mnrlposa with money In his pock
et. His trunk had been left aboard
tho steamer, and In It was his ttckot
to continue to the Colonies by ono
of tho steamers of tho line, within a
certain specified time. Tho steamer
went with his trunk, a local express
company falling to get It. He then
went Hllo und returned here Saturday.
It was his intention to leave In tho
Sierra to follow up his trunk. Judgo
