DANGER FROM STEAM ROLLER
There Is no end of complaint against
the mnn who runs tho steam roller at
tho corner of Vineyard and Nuuanu
streets. Yesterday afternoon, one of
tho wagons of the new Ico company was
attempting to round tho corner In tho
vicinity of the steam roller. The driver
cried out to the man In cliargo to stop
tho machlno ns tits horses wcro very
much frightened and might innko an
attempt to run away. Tho roller man
stopped his machine but, Just as tho Io
nian got his horses past tho danger
point, tho fellow started up his ma
chlno again with a number of putfs
that frightened the animals so they
started off on a run. Luckily, tho Ice
man hnd n tight hold on the reins.
However, even with this advantage
over tho horses, It was necessary for
him to exert overy bit of strength he
bad to keep tho animals from running
away nnd carrying tho wagon and him
self over tho embankment that Is to be
found there.
