I'lilllj) V. llrcldt, 72 years of ngc. till
bride. .Mary Rail, Is only one year be
hind him, and they nrc the oldest pru
plo ever married In the county, ns far
as tho records show, who had not pre
viously entered matrimony.
Tor nearly forty jears the bride ha
patiently waited for tho performance
of the marriage, for which a licence
was Issued In 1SC9. The couple were li
censed to wed thirty-eight years ago by
r. A. Jones, tho llrst probate Judge of
tho county. Just why the marriage
was postponed so long will never be
ltnown, probably, but a remark made
by tho groom yesterday may throw
some light on it. llrcldt said: "I am
going to do tho right thing by her
now."
The aged jjroom came to the court
house with the old license. He said It
authorized him to wed Mary Hall anfl
that now he wanted to marry his choice
of many years ago. Everything wa
regular and the license, was all right.
but tho situation rather staggered tho
Court, and so a new license was Issue!
and the marriage followed.
