At the meeting of the Hoard of

four weeks, nnd to continue two weeks
longer, If agreeable.
A letter wns rend from the Wilder
Steamship Co.. stating that, iindci the
contract for which the company u
celvcs $200 per month from the llmi-il
of Health -for carrying freight for the
leper settlement, taro and pol were
not Included. The company pioposes
to carry taro and pol at $3 per ton or
fifteen cents per bag.
Tho following resolution was adopt
ed: "That no permit for Interment of
tho dead shnll he gianteil within hc
city limits of Honolulu ns defined In
tho resolution of April 3. 1900, except
In such places and upon such condi
tions ns tho Hoard of Health, upon In
cstlKntlon, shall find will not Jeopar
dize tho public health."
An opinion of Attorney General Dole
was rend relating to tho responsibility
of the Hoard of Health for losses In the
Tho opinion rends: "In regard to the
claim of Mr. Knuakanul ugalnst the
Board of Health for losses In tho (Ire
of January 20, 1300, referred to me by
tho Hoard of Health. I liao to .report
that. In my opinion , tho Hoard of
Health Is not legally liable for such
losses and has no authority to pay the

vice president of tho American Medical
Society was given permission to visit
tho leper settlement In tho Interests of

llesohed, That the Hoard of Health

Legislature, special session, lSO.'i. and
all amendments thereto, "entitled an
Act to provide for the Importation nnd
salo of alcohol for medical purposes
and tho manufacture nnd "salo of
methylated Bplrlts, etc." Among other
things tho committee said:

Health, was that tho hoard Bhould pay
tho rice bills. These two bills, amount
ing tn $243.50. were ordered paid. The
Attorney General said. In pirt:
