COMMITTEES DISCUSSED
ARRANGEMENTS YESTERDAY
Disposition of the Press-Something
About Maskers-Will Enter
Drill Shed from
Miller Street.
Representatives from the different
committees having the Mnrdl Orns car
nival matters In liaud, met yesterday
afternoon at the drill shed and still
further perfected the- arrangements
which aro now to well In hand.
According to a resolution, It was do
elded to try and Increase the manner
of boxes but It Is doubtful If this can
be don".
Tho l'f.eshment committee has ac
knowledged a largo amount of cako do
nations and the offer of the Elite Ice
Cream I'.vlors to furnish lee cream
fiandwlches. cutlery nnd crockcrv. was
accepted.
Tho question as to tho formation of
tho grand march and also as to how to
avoid confusion among the spectators
and maskers In the dressing rooms,
was salved by the suggestion of Mrs.
Walker and Mrs. Tenner, who had been
on a tour of Investigation while tho
discussion was In progress,
tt was finally decided that the mask
crs should enter the building from the
Miller street entrance, marching Into
tho ball room nt the rear end over the
sfago nnd down ihe steps. The front
cntranco will be reserved for specta
tor The plan was then adopted and. for
the further Instruction of maskers and
spectators, nil particulars as to Ingress
and egress to and from the drill shed,
will bo published In n pamphlet which
will be Issued In a day or two.
It was first suggested that those In
truding to appear In dominoes, should
havo them madn of Mardl Gras col-
but It was finally decided not to
Insist upon tho adoption of the colors,
owing to the notice being made so
lata
Oentlemcn In evening dress nre to
powder their hair, as likewise the la
dles, unless their costume calls for
somo particular head-dress.
Tho question of arrangements for tho
press was discussed. Mrs. Graham
suggested thnt a tablo be set apart
whllo others suggested that press
boxes be arranged about the walls with
pencils nnd blank cards, tho maskers
to fill In the names of themselves nnd
tho characters they
represent nnd to
drop the cards Into tho box.
This was suggested In order that no
mistakes may bo made In the list of
maskers nnd tnclr costumes. I no masK-
crs will bo requested to observe this in
order that their names and costumei
may be properly quoted In the papers.
It Is understood thnt the names con-
tnlned In theso boxes will not ho lt-1
vulged until a late hour.
After attending to these matters, tho
meeting adjourned until this afternoon
at the snmo plnro and hour, when final
arrangements wilt be made.
