Men Now In Shape for
the Coming Meet
Next Saturday.
FINISHING TOUCHES ARE

Kamehameba is Confident and Expects
to Win Oahu Sawing Wood
Some Surprises Are to
be Expected.
As the comlnc meet between n.ihn
Collegoantt Knmchnnidhn school ilrnns
near, Interest Increases. The bojrs hnvo
been trnlnlni? faithfully and arc In the
pink of condition,
Oahu has about recovered from her
slump of last week. Myers, the shot
put man. has not been heard from as
yet but It is hoped will be nblc to
appear In the meet.
Castle Is out on the track once more
and Is doing some Komi work. He Is
still a little weak from the crfects of
his Illness. The rest of the men arc.
doing well In all the evp'nts.
Campbell nnd Kaulukou are coins
well up Into the air In the pole vault.
They have Improved considerably
since their last appearance nnd are
good for a great distance above their
record In the High school.
ilarbottle of Kamehameha Is doing
good work nt the hurdles and broad
Jump. In practice, he cleared 20 feet
3 Inches the other day He has plenty
of speed oer both hurdles but his form
Is not very good. Kamehameha feels
sure of both of these events.
Hardy Is another star for the Kams,
who stands a ery good chance of car.
rying off his event. At least his sup
porters are laying odds to that effect,
for he cleared 10 feet 3 Inches In prac
tlce a few days ago.
Naolc will undoubtedly take the shot
and hammer contests. He put over 45
feet the other day In practice, and Is
sending the hammer over 100 feet. In
the discus work, he Is alsoftdolng well,
throwing the weight "lc.be to 90 feet.
Hanakahl Is Another good man In
the sprints. Lnt December, he defeat
ed Castle in the r0 and 100, but was
beaten by him In the 220. Castle has
Improved greatly since their last meet
ing, and will run Hanakahl on his
feet.
In the distances, Kamehameha Is not
so strong. Alan was defeated by Dev
crlll and Marcclllno by nbout four
yards List October The time was slow
and since then. Deverlll has gone under
that time by more than llftcen wvonds.
Alan niso has two other good men to
heat. Hums nnd Drown, who run but
a little behind Deverlll.
The relay race should be the most ex
citing race on the whole program If
anything, the Collego ti-am Is the faster,
but will have to do their best In order
to win.
Taken nil In all. the meet will be the
closest ever run off here. Kameha
meha expects to win. but accidents
may take place and the unexpected
happen, Kamehameha feels sure of the
hammer, pole vault, two hurdles, D0
yard dash. 100 yard ilaah, broad Jump,
discus and high Jump. This leaves hut
five events for the Oulmans, Knmcha
meha thereby winning by a goodly
margin.
In the meantime, Oahu Is saying
nothing but "sawing wood," and prom-
