THE STORY OF LACE CURTAINS.
ONE NIGHT IN PARIS
A petite chanteuse arrived home tired and fagged after her evening's
performance. Immediately on entering her elaborate apartment's she
proceeded to hastily disrobe. In a mood of abandon end nonchalance she
threw her embroidered lace petticoat carelessly from her, and it taught
upon the curtain pole of a window. There it hung until morning, and,
when the petite one awoke site was struck by the beautiful effect pro
duced by the sun's rays peeping through the embroidery and open work
of the petticoat. Her upholsterer was summoned and commissioned to
design curtains after the pattern of the undergarment. The idea was
novel and spread the world over. And that's how lace curtains originated
ONE DAY IN NEW YORK
We stumbled across some American made Nottigham and Arabian
curtains that for artistic conceptions and beauty of designs surpnss any
thing of the kind we have ever seen. We couldn't believe at first that
they had been made In America. Neither, perhaps, could you believe it.
