Itllo, May 3. The nrrhnl In llllo of
the promoters and engineers ot the III
la ami Kpiala rallioad has occasioned
no (.nil ot discussion as to the probable
outcomej-of their Watt.
The entire party Is headed by It, B.
Gehr, who. when approaihed by a Bul
letin reporter for an Intenlew, main
tained the strictest silence.
When the proposition was originally
discussed, the business men and others
realizing the great value from a com
mercial standpoint that would accrue
to llllo by 'the construction of tho sys
tem, tvery assistance was accorded the
promoters, but when tho scheme fell
through apparently, everything became
quiet in the city of llllo and the vol
ume of trade that would have accrued
In the event of the construction of the
system did sot materialize.
The company opened offices In the
Severance building on Walanuenuc
street and to all Intents and purposes
were arranging the preliminary work,
preparatory to commencing construc
tion. A large amount or money was
expended In surveying for right of way
and matter Incidental thereto. Mr.
Gehr has apparently succeeded In in
curring the enmity of the managers of
some of the plantations, which resulted
In causing a feeling of animosity to
wards the promoters and thus render
ing the closing of several Important
matters a rather difficult tnsk.
Now that tho parties who originally
planned the construction of this much
needed rjstem are In llllo. It Is to bi
hoped that they mean business, and
will commence operations at an early
date.
