Washington, June S. It Is the pur

three separate tracts of land on Pearl

gregating 793 acres, for use as a naval
station. It una hoped that these lands
might hae been acquired by outright
purchase, but, Inasmuch as the present
owners of the land ask extortionate
prices, It has been decided, after a
lengthy Investigation, to condemn the
property, and secure It at a price to be
fixed by tho United States Attorney for

of Oahu College. The concert opened
with "Hnll, Bright Abode" from Wag

over a hundred voices, composed of pu
pils and tho Instructors of Oahu Col
lege Department of Music. An orches
tra from the band assisted by Miss
Woods, Miss Barber, Miss Kopke and
Miss Holler, violins, and Miss Dagmar
Sorenson and Miss Gertrude, Brown,
piano, furnished the accompaniment
for the first part of Haydn's "The
Creation," as well as the few selec
tions that preceded this masterpiece.
Mrs. Kathrlnka Paulsen White sang
"On Mighty Pens" fiom the second
part of "Tho Creation," next came
"Gypsey Life" by the chorus. This
was one of the best numbers on tho
program. Prof. J. H. Amme delighted

Frof. Ballayseyus expects soon to be
able to give the second part of Haydn's
masterpiece. From the success of last
night's efforts, he will certainly be at

that of last night. He could not hava
a more appreciative one.
