Decision was rendered by tho Su
preme Court yeateray" in the equity
suit of Manocl Gomes vs. Jose Cordelra
in favor ot the defendant. Tho con
troversy grew out of a lease of land ob
tained by Gomes fromjQueen Dowager
Kaplolanl In 1897jind sublet by him to
corueiro. There was an agreement be
tween the parties that Gomes should
secure an extension of the lease and ro
now his arrangement with Cordeiro.
Ignoring this, Cordeiro obtained the
lease himself for his own benefit. The
court held that Gomes has no relief In
equity. J. M.
