dent C. I). Cooper for an extended trip
on the Mainland today, a special meet
ing of tlio Hoard of Health was held
yesterday afternoon. The members
prebent were: President Cooper, Dr.
Sloggett. Kred Smith and Attorney
General Dole. Tho business transacted
was not vciy voluminous hut the decks
were cleared. President Cooper placed
bis resignation before the Hoard. Haeh
member present urged him to merely
take a leave of absence, retaining the
cilice. Acknowledging the compliment,
Dr. Cooper persisted In nrrlng out

ofllco only until he departed on his trip.
Mr. siogzelt was unanimously elect
ed as President Cooper's successor. On
his return. Dr. Cooper will resume his
place as a member of the Uoard.

cord with tho Appropriation bill an
passed by the Senato last week,
During tho early part of the session,
tho clerk rend a communication from
the House, stating that that body had
failed to concur In tho Senato amend
ment to tho $15,000 Appropriation bill
to defray tho expenses of tho extra
session. Tho oto of 14 to 8 for tho
amendment was given In tho communi
cation. Mr. Achl pointed nut that, according
to tho Organic Act (Section 22), tho
House had really concurred in the Sen
ate amendment, changing tho sum to
$20,000. Vhero had been II votes for
tho amendment and this was certainly
a majority nf tho ciudrum Diesent. Only

members elected shall bo secured bo
